I'd be the first to admit to not wanting to see players fall over over and make a meal of the slightest challenge but so far I can't help feeling that the refs have been a bit too eager to show a yellow for diving where sometimes a penalty might not have been too out of order?
Hope it doesn't spoil the competion too much.
P
And I really hope Calamity James was watching the Denmark game. Goal Keeping doesn't get much better.

We Celts, who will be mourning Henrik's departure for years to come, call him the King of Kings. The forces of darkness (who have one or two representatives on the forum) call him something much ruder!

"That was a sublime header - of a like not seen since Andy Gray was in his pomp."
Mick Jones run to the byeline and cross followed by Alan "sniffer" Clarke's sublime finish (Wembley 1972) stands out as the greatest of all diving headers.

From the Dark Side I have to admit that I doubt we will ever see again such an all-round talent such as Henrik's in Scottish League football.
Talented, reserved in public and a complete ambassador to the game.

Nick, in keeping with ITV house style, while Denmark's little kickabout with Italy was diverting... Laursen looks a nice signing for the Villa.

Davie, I call him one of the very best ever to play in Scotland and I wish he had been a Bear. That's not too rude is it? TF he's gone! Comparisons with Slim Jim, Coop, and King Brian are pointless as they were such different players. What a team it would have been with all four, and I'll be generous here, plus a couple of your own favourites!

Amen to that.
His goals last night (and his making of one of the others) must have fulfilled his reason for being at the tournament and put him in the shop window in no uncertain fashion. The diving header was clean out of the textbook.
What about the Bulgarian marking though - oh dear me. You'd have thought Stillian Petrov might have had a word...

Errr, well, I wasn't. Had a search, Larsson scored between 28 to 34 goals each season 2000 to 2004. Errrr..
[We don't get much of the Scot league here, and many players of this caliber end up in the premierleague/la liga/Serie A.]
I'm sure at some point some clubs tried to get him away from Celtic, but he never budged. I would have loved to see him at Liverpool, more so seeing what striker(s) we've been enduring the last few seasons. It's rare to get that level of commitment and loyalty from players nowadays especially considering it isn't his home town club or anything, plus as mentioned by long-time-dead a perfect gentleman to boot as well.

£1.5million loyalty clause in his contract

It's not exactly painful being swedish today...
Watch out England, you have not managed defeating Sweden since 1966 iirc

Setting yourself up for a fall their mate. The Swedish strikers took their chances very well but I don't think you'll see many defences marking quite as badly as the Bulgarians did. The probably had the better of the play in the 1st half, looked like they were going to equalize (deservedly) just before the 1st Larsson goal and only really collapsed after that.
The Denmark v Sweden game should be a good one.

Well, tonight is, by all accounts, a really big game - Holland vs Germany. I had no idea of the emnity between these two sides until I read the papers this morning.
I wonder what German and Dutch Forum members think?

I've lived in Germany and Holland and was well aware of it. Tip - don't make the mistake of asking a Dutchman if he's German.

Steve G. True the bulgarian defence was a joke and they played quite well in the beginning.
Alex, 1966 was the last time England managed a result worth rememberring, right?
Anyway good luck to everyone and let's hope we get to see some really nice soccer.

We've learned from hard experience not to underestimate the german team. They've proven in the past that they can win matches by playing the ugliest football one has ever seen. And they have "kampfgeist" ,something the dutch simply don't have.
My guess is a 1-1 draw tonight.
Rob.

If Kampfgeist can draw enough flem, it may go to 2:1.

The Dutch had good players, something the Germans simply don't have.
Hurrah!

How did Germany look up to the 81st minute? I wanted to stream the audio but things pulled me away from my desk.
