The only Toure I have heard is "Talking Timbuktu" with Ry Cooder, which is excellent. I would says bluesy with African accents would be a fair description.

Concur with Jeff -- it's a unique album and a very good sounding one at that. Normally I would wince at the idea of mixing African music and blues, but the mixing really is the saving grace for the blues bit.

One of the songs was used in "Unfaithful" with Richard Gere, BTW.

Talking Timbuktu is great, but Toure's "undiluted" music is even better. Go to any specialist shop and you'll find a good number of them.

'Niafunke' is excellent, recorded in Mali.

As is 'The Source'.

I'll second Bruce's recommendation for Niafunke. Its an amazing sounding record (goes to show you don't need to spend millions of quid in a flash studio to make great sounding records, infact, it probably helps if you don't).
