Honda's response

Rossi, world champ with a race to spare-Well Done. What do Honda do next? They clearly had the best bike this year but Yamaha got their first title since 1992.As I see it Honda have few options open to them....
1.write off next year and try to get Rossi back in 2006
2.concentrate on fewer works and semi works bikes ;six machines is rather a lot
3.spend even more money developing the best bike on the grid
4.???????

Hi
Honda already have the best bike on the grid , but they are miles away from having the best rider. How many riders would have given up on a championship winning bike other than Rossi? I believe Rossi will put to bed all the arguments about who was the best rider ever.
Dave.

Drop all the other bikes and put ALL the money into a 2 rider factory team with Colin Edwards and Loris Capirossi.
However...
I think it won't be too long before we see Rossi switched to a F1 car

Hi again
I agree , I think Colin is one of the most underrated guys on the grid, but it will be a sad day if Rossi does leave 2 wheels for the yawn that is Formula 1

Rossi is without doubt one of the best of todays riders, but i still think he has some way to go before he can claim the best ever award... What about Doohan, Rainey, Schwanz etc etc??
Colin Edwards is a star, the guy has so much determination and commitment that im sure he will be a major player next season.. taking the WSB title as he did from baylis at that last round in imola is still one of those great biking moments..
Next year will be interesting from a Honda point of view in both WSB and Moto GP... If all goes to plan i think you will see that some of the investment that has lived in Moto GP this year will return to WSB..

Doohan was boring and had no soul. Rainey, Lawson, Gardner & Swantz were good, but not the sort of "win every race every time" league.
Swantz is my all time favorite rider because he could be irratic and exciting. I was so pleased when he retired because I was worried he would do a Rainey eventually. Kenny Roberts Snr was one of the all time greats and invented so many techniques still used today.
If any factory wanted to develop a bike, Rocket Ron would still be your man.

"Rossi is without doubt one of the best of todays riders,"
One of the best? Who else could have ridden the Yamaha to a world title?
Who else would have left Honda, just to take on the challenge of winning the title on a lesser machine?
Mr Tibbs

Michael Schumacher is about the only one that would have and he does not like bikes at all! He did much the same thing as Rossi when he switched to Ferrari all those years ago.
Having said that, I doubt we will ever see Rossi in an F1 car, he has competed in a couple of rally's and that is where his 4 wheel heart lies, BUT given the state of WRC at the moment, I think he'll stay put. MotoGP has to be one of the healthiest places for motorsport at the moment.
I for one would love to see him in a WRC car, I'm sure he would bring back those great memories of Henri Toivonen in the Lancia S4.......
Still missed today
