Where to buy car tyres

Posted by: MontyW on 26 October 2004

Can anyone recommend the cheapest place to buy car tyres and also get them fitted? Also, has anyone had any experience of Black Circles the online tyre company?

Cheers,

Dave

I used Blackcircles for my last purchase as they were the cheapest option. You select your tyres and they refer you to a local shop to have them fitted.

Try A&M tyres in Pemberton (near Wigan) ask for Tony. Alternatively SMD tyres at Leigh just off the East Lancs Rd.

I've found that getting tyres is like nenewing insurance. Ring round for the best quote and nail them to it. Tomorrow you'll get a different set of numbers.

Thanks for the messages - it's amazing the difference in prices! So far Blackcircles are the cheapest including fitting and are approx' £50 cheaper (for 4 tyres) than most other places.

David,

No good to you in Manchester, BUT

for anybody nearish to Newbury, HEADLEY TYRES LTD.

I have just checked two sizes that I have bought in the past 3 months, both Michelin

155/70/R13 75T
205/65/R15 94V

The smaller ones just over £5 cheaper and the larger just under £10 cheaper each.

Don't know how ATS/KwikFit etc survive hereabouts!!!

Cheers

If we are going to expand the potential area - I would contact Micheldever tyres first and then see if the local firms will compete in price - allowing for the 60 mile roundtrip for me.

1. Find the cheapest online service that offers local fitting.

2. Get a small local tyre service to see if they can match or better it.

3. Go to Kwik-Fit (or similar) who offers price-matching to your local fitter as standard.

4. Go back to the local dealer and give him the business if he can come down a couple of quid over Kwik-Fit.
