Plastic Clips

On lifting my 72 off it's shelf earlier this evening I noticed that there was something rattling around inside. On opening the case out fell a small white plastic clip which had obviously become detatched from the top of one of the removeable boards. The fact that there were several boards without clips meant firstly I did'nt know which one it had come off, and secondly as these clips appear to contact with the casing when assembled and hold the boards in place, why did'nt they all have a clip. All the front boards have a clip, it's some of the rear boards that are missing clips.
Does anyone know if the clips are necessary as it would seem the boards without are more susceptible to vibration than the ones with. I probably would'nt be asking if I had'nt convinced myself there was an improvement when I replaced the clip on one of the boards
