Waterrower - anyone know about the computer

I purchased a waterrower rowing machine today following comparison with several others including the Concept 2. I like its action, looks and storage option but think that the distance measured is a bit odd. I don't seem to get more distance as stroke strength is increased, distance seems more related to stroke length only.

My concern is that it will be difficult to track improvements in fitness.

Other than this aspect my initial impressions of the waterrower are good. Anyone got any experience of the Waterrower and especially its distance measurement method.

My wife uses ours through the winter when it is too dark to go running etc, we must have had it for 6 or 7 years and it has never needed any maintenance. It gives me a bad back though.

Not sure I understand your question. The distance travelled is measured by the number of revolutions of the spindle, your longer stroke length may just be taking you longer time perhaps? Ours has a fairly basic computer, perhaps more modern versions are more sophisticated. I seem to remember you can set time or distance targets to give you a goal.
