Printer for Canon Powershot S1 IS

Posted by: Camlan on 21 December 2004

Can anybody help with this please. Am thinking of buying my wife a printer for her camera for Xmas. Am I better getting a Canon model which will print 'direct' from the camera or something like an Epson Picturemate which as far as I can see will take memory cards. I want to avoid connecting to PC if possible because it's a hassle.

Thanks

Quite a few printers will now print straight from the camera so your not restricted to just canon printers... the feature you need to look out for is called PictBridge. That said i recently bought a Canon Pixma iP4000 which is stunning. It produces lovely pictures... to my eyes at least!

Buy a canon. I have owned a printer from practically every manufacturer but the canon beats them all.

It does require a little set up with colorsync to get the output right as they can err on the dark side of printing.

Other than that they are fast and quiet and most importantly separate ink tanks which even the actual canon ones are only 7 quid each, and compatibles from www.choicestationary.com are £1.28, plus when the printer thinks they have ran out, its ultimately up to you if you want to change it. (A reason why I will never buy epson again)

Plus it does edge to edge all over prints on A4. I think the new mid range printer is the IP300 which is superb (we got one for Sheilas dad) that prints to CD as well, great stuff for 90 quid

I have just bought the Canon IP5000. It is the absolute dogs doodahs! £135 from Pixmania. Be wary of their delivery costs though. I got stung with the next day delivery option that wasn't.

The results from this printer are stunning. Just check out some of the reviews on the web.

Hope this helps
