Damn - I missed this. Anyone know if its repeated? Just got into Jarrett recently with Koln Concert and the trio's Still Live. Brilliant musician....just a shame about his warbling in the background!

I kind of like some of the background 'noises', however..... A few years ago I took a 'date' to see the Keith Jarrett Trio and part way through a wonderful concert she jabbs me in the ribs with her elbow, points to a standing, swaying, enraptured KJ and says, "look there's something wrong with his piano and he's trying to fix it" Roll Eyes

what can you do???

Hi Rich,

if you like Jarrett solo you should try the "Sun bear concerts". My Trio favourites are "The cure", "Tokyo ´96" and "Changeless".
You´ll get acquaint with the background warbling.

Thanks Christian - I think I like the trio stuff best so will check those titles out. Are they available on vinyl do you know?

I must admit that I started to watch the documentary but was but off by all the 'yeh man' 'crazy piano antics'. I think I would quite like his music on CD but live his mannerisms would really grate - sorry.

Rich,

as far as I know, these albums are not available on vinyl (in Germany). Possibly second hand.

Better avoid Keith Emerson then.

Shame I missed it.

Albums to listen to
Koln Concert (possibly one of the greatest pieces of solo piano work of any genre)
Belonging
Tokyo '96

Have seen him live, same trio as Tokyo live at RFH a couple of years ago but just didn't really seem to come together, shame.

Jarrett vinyl is damn hard to find though. Anyone got any links?

Thanks

The earlier ECM stuff crops up quite a lot in places like MVE in Notting Hill (not much use to you though perhaps). Be worth keeping an eye on http://www.gemm.com/ if you aren't already.

Edit: Records By Mail seem to have a fair bit at the moment (good supplier, I use them a lot).
