With the inexorable march of the DVD format it's easy to forget that many people still have extensive video libraries on VHS in the UK. Unfortunately lokking at video players it seems that manufacturers/retailers have decided that it's a dead format and only ultra low end machines are good enough. So my question is; what hi end (not S-VHS) video player can forum members recommend/know of?
Many thanks.

I think you just pay about £120 for the top of the range. I recently bought a Sony SLVSE740, and it makes the pictures on older tapes considerably crisper, has more features than any machine I've ever owned, and the rewind is so fast it's a bit scary. I'd just go into any shed and buy the dearest there - I can't see how you'd be disappointed. It's the benefits of a dying technology's last gasp.... and [IMHO] a more sensible way of going about things than a DVD recorder, which I think are a bit strange and somehow over elaborate for everyday use.
