Eagles - CDs which label?

Posted by: Sundance on 10 August 2004

Would welcome any views as to what might be a good CD recording when buying the old Eagles catalogues?

I notice I can easily get Elektra, Warner, JVC and just wondered if anyone has experience.
Cheers.

Depending on what you want to pay; either order USA made discs from Djangos for example, or for the ultimate sound quality; I have Japanese remasters of my favourite Eagles albums from 101. Click on the Japanese flag.

Japanese made CD's (as with vinyl) do seem to offer the very best sound quality available.

The USA manufactured remasters are still very good - just avoid EU made crap.

Happy listening.

Hi Ermine

Myself and several of my friends with good systems have found that EU produced CD's sound inferior to a USA/Canadian made copy. This is particularly obvious with USA artistes, but I've even found it to be the case with UK based bands.

The copy protection business is not a factor here. We've compared numerous examples and generally the USA made item sounds smoother, cleaner and more open. The EU one sounds a bit raw and shut-in by comparison.

Japanese made CD's are the very best for sound quality, at a price. I have no idea why.
