Ben Harper and the blind boys of Alabama

I'd be amazed if this album hasn't been discussed here before, but the "find" function doesn't work any more so just in case ..

If "There will be a light" isn't proof of the existence of a higher power, I don't know what is. For those of you who have been tempted by BH or TBBOA but never jumped, now is the time.

I love the opening track of this but much of the rest left me cold.

Perhaps I'm just beyond salvation

It's copy-controlled, so I wont buy it ... I might download it tho'

You can have my copy-or I'll mail you an MP3 version if you'd like, my copy certainly copied into iTunes OK.

In France the disc is Copy-Controlled, they don't play very well on my CDX. And , on principle (at least until I have no other choice), I won't get the chip upgrade to play the Copy Controlled discs.

Is your disk a redbook standard CD ? I can rip from Copy Control disks, if I choose and then copy to CD-R, but I don't like doing it unnecessarily.

Refusing to buy Copy Control disks is my lone and futile protes at the idiocy of the record companies.

I'm not sure how I can tell (or even exactly what is) a 'redbook standard CD'. I bought it when it was released, it plays without hitch in my (un-modified) CDX and also my laptop

Bruce,

Generally Copy Controlled CDs have Copy controled and a funny triangle within a circle logo somewhere on either CD the case or both. There'll also be somthing about the CD playing on certian minimum requirements PC.

If The disc has the tradional CD logo on it, then it's a 'red book' CD defined to the original Sony Phillips standard.

Sorted. Redbook I reckon. Do you want a copy/the original/an MP3 version now?!

Bruce,

I'd like the original, see Private topics.

Thanks!

Got this a couple of weeks ago - US Copy from Caiman. Wonderful album that sounds wonderful too (and plays fine on my CDX2)
