Arie - Mana update required.

Arie,
You have gone all quiet on how the trial of the soundframe is going. As a CDI user I am interested in your opinion of how the sound has changed? Is is brighter? (I hope not) or less glare?

Thanks

Simon,
All I had to say about the Mana I said in Mana forum but as I'm a polite person I'll tell you here.
I said before that in Israel there are no dealers for Mana and for Hutter and for QS - so I can't say anything that relates to how is Mana compares to the others.
I had the Mana for 4 days and now I'm 4 days without it - and I miss it frown !

It is a great device, improved the sound - made the bass tighter (I learned in Mana forum that that is the name of the phenomenon I had) - without the Mana the Bass is heavier and shakes the sofa - now when I don't have the Mana I agree that the Bass is better with it.
The great surprise was that with the Mana I used a noticeable lower volume. The volume knob is on the 9 o'cklock with the Mana and on the 11 o'clock
without it - strange ?

Simon, I drank a bottole of Vodka in order to be able to post this.... razz

I raise my hands, put of my hate, Mana is good
but -
the people in Mana forum are great and helpful and realy - Mana forum is the greatest place on earth to talk about Mana.

Not ALL the people...

Simon,
Mr pig post reminded me of something. I didn't have the rubber rings to feet under the cdi foot.
It was Mr Pig idea that I'll put tap rubber gaskets and I did so.
These gaskets didn't do the job but I think that they pointed to a direction that the rubber foot adaptors will warm the sound.

Arie,
Thank you for the reply. I hope you get a replacement before you turn into an a Alcoholic (drunk). Just one thing before we leave the M word. What changed in the higher frequencies ? I still think that this area is a weakness on the CDI - it is a bit rough and exposed.

P.S - Looks like a Mana home demo is on the cards.

Any luck on the short foot? I was going to say any progress, but that to bad even for my sense of humour.

Simon,

We have to be careful while taking about the sound of the cdi for example, because a cdi doesn't play for itself - it works with amplifications and speakers. So when you are saying you have a poblem with the Cdi - with what system, how big is your room and I guess many more questions can affect the answer.
So the answer is this -
At my home, a CDi, flatcap/72/140, IBL's giving great sound and excelent balnace of Low's midd's and hi's. I love evrything my system does and thinking that the CDi is a GREAT cd player (although somehow "limping"...)
Limping - the foot is still not okay. I spoke with Naim dealer and I found that he knows very well about the shimes Mark Tucker was talking about. This made me thinking that I have to question Naim dealer here and not trust him blindly like I used to do. Next time when I'll have a problem I'll mail Naim before contacting him.
And the most trustable ofcourse is the forum here
that MANY (not all) members here are not biased and can give professional answers to problems.

The Mana soundframe do emphasizes the high's in a way. I told you I don't have the rubber feet which I think warm the sound. But I also agree that the bass with the soundframe is more tight.
When you hear a bass guitr - the sound is more like with the soundframe rather than without.
This tight bass may cause you thinking that the highs are louder. Another very important feature of the soundframe, that the all "between" lows and highs is clearer, actually much clearer than without. It reminded me of some opinions of members here comapring the 102 to the 72 and saying that the 72 is warmer and the 102 is more detailed. If it is so, maybe I can say that the soundframe makes the sound stepping to the direction of the 102.

Mana Forum. JW came back from somewhere and told his plans and got a lot of "welcome back" from the forum.
All of these was so "sweet". Reading these reminded me of the soap operas you can see in TV (I can't).
I hate "sweetie" environments.
Give me Mark Tucker !!!
