Louis,

I listened to a CD5/112/150/Flatcap2/SBL last night and I thought it was leaps and bounds better than anything else in its price range (naim ect). The new series 5 stuff is so fundamentally better then its predacessors I am going to have a hard time recommending anything else to folks new to the Naim family.

In the past, SBLs required a 102 or better to really shine...but the Series 5 stuff has shattered that standard. I highly recommend. I fear what the new reference products will do (ie CDS/52 replacements)...it should be exciting!

I haven't compared the two, but can totally agree with Chris's comments, so much so I've put my wallet where my mouth is an bought exactly the system described (- SBL's, + Prefix).

I think it's astounding value for money, and with any luck should be here tomorrow.

Although of secondary consideration, the 5 series also adds a huge amount of user convenience as well, with full remote control.

Andy.
