Great tune, one of the funniest of that period: "She's run away, with the yachting type"... great stuff.

Idlewild - 100 broken windows

Paul

Cotton Mather, anybody who saw any of their gigs in the UK was truly privileged!

Cotton Mather are the band that Oasis could have been if they had the brains and the tunes!

It's all true!

I've gotta get ahold of a copy of Kon Tiki, it's long deleted here.

I used to go see the Posies in clubs here; they were shambolic live, but oh those Holliesesque harmonies on record...

Bhazen

If you e-mail me chris@motech.demon.co.uk, I can help you with "Kontiki".

Their "There she goes" just has to be one of the best "pop" songs of all time IMHO.

Paul.

Back to back with "She Bangs the Drum" from The Stone Roses.

What went wrong ? Confused

Lest they be forgotten!

Brendan Benson, The Green Pajamas,
Jason Faulkner, Abuni, The Wondermints, Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians (some of) and one last mention again for COTTON MATHER! Go buy their "Kontiki" album it's wonderful and Amazon have it in their "new and used" section at a very reasonable price.

Hey thanks ChrisG, I'm off (virtually) to Amazon...

I second the Stones Roses, the La's, etc...How about Nick Heyward's 90's stuff? I read once in a Q review of The Apple Bed that compared to him, Noel Gallagher doesn't like the Beatles that much!

The Only Ones - Another Girl, Another Planet.

I've just heard this again ! What a brilliant, brilliant record ! Definitely a time capsule recording.

Teenage Kicks, What's with Terry? - Undertones

Flamin Groovies - Shake Some Action
Screaming Blue Messiahs - Bikini Red
Godfathers - Birth School Work Death

This could go on and on

Paul Darwin mentioned "Let's Active" - I remember seeing them on Whistle Test decades ago and the guitarist was going to be the "next Hendrix".
That was the sort of accolade that finished many careers before they really kicked off so what happened? (Not to Jimi before the wags reply)

Time to go home

If I feel like I need a good shakedown I'll try:

Whitesnake - Slow and Easy
Rush - Driven
Chris Squire & Billy Sherwood - Violet Purple Rose

I am totally energised after this workout.
Posted on: 06 October 2004 by Mike Hughes
If I want to give my CDX2/XPS2 a loud workout then it's always Queens Of The Stone Age but I can also bear witness to

Cheap Trick - Live At Budokhan
The Posies - Frosting On The Beater
Big Star - Radio City

Now, can someone give me the lowdown on Brendan Benson. I got the album that NME raved about and I have seen other since but no reviews. Any help out there?

no, and "don´t believe a word" is not mentioned yet either.

But there are loads...
Iggy: I got a right

If one wants a serie of tracks on one album;

Iggy, new values album, the quartet:
tell me a story, new values, girls, I´m bored.

Television: marquee moon (well the entire album actually)

From Ziggy stardust: star, hang onto yourself, ziggy stardust and suffragette city.

more recently
smashing pumpkins mellon collie:
jelly belly, zero, here is no why and bullet with butterfly wings.

Just to mention a few.....

BrianBrian - I am not worthy. You must be a pretty good stixster! I just got their CD The Big Picture; GREAT group, and largely unheard in der U.S. I'm awaiting, on a LONG order time, Kon Tiki from Amazon.
