DJ Shadow'd Endtroducing
Posted by: Simon Perry on 18 September 2004
Spent a very happy few hours yesterday listening to my new(ish) CDX2. Its really beginning to grow on me. The DJ Shadow album in particular was sounding the most groovy I have ever heard it. Very analogue. Guge grin factor. It was never that much fun before. Dare I stick an XPS2 on it?

Go on. Do it. I dare you.

How old is your CDX2 Simon? Mines been out of the box for four days and I'm itching already. Guess I've got to give it a month or three, but I can relate. Rush is the yard stick at the moment. having uncovered significantly more bass detail I'm wordering what else is in there.

Its about 6 weeks old. The bass detail is where it really seems to be excelling. Its also very good at really getting a 'grip' on the music - driving it along - I guess all the typical PRAT qualities that you expect with Naim.
On the downside, its still not an equal to my Rega P25 turntable...
I will probably upgrade my preamp before getting an XPS2 though.

Very difficult to quantify individual upgrades if you don't fully get settled in with each stage. Sure, it may improve it loads, but you will miss out on the thrill of upgrading to an XPS2 later on over what you have now.

For the second time in as many mins. I couldn't agree more rasher! Damn this precision equipment that takes so long to run in. Oh well, back to the music, poor me...
