Windows XP query

Muchachos

"A Friend of Mine" has recently installed Windows XP Professional, upgrading from XP home. The fact that it is not working correctly is an aside..

He used a disk from a chum, and was able to enter the 200 digit security code. A box came up giving "30 days to activate Windows". His query is, would activating Windows in this manner lead to Bill gates sending in the Lawyers, or cancelling the license for the original purchaser of the software.

My chum is not looking for moral opinions, btw, just what would happen.

And I said I knew just the place to ask.

Regards

Mike

What bloodshot little Brian have you been in?

Did you get his phone number?

Oh dear.

guys, it appears we have an energy monster(ette) here.

he likes starting trifling threads that are (un)structured in a way that allows him to get indignant/take a stand against responses, and then enjoys the slappings meted out on him. Then losing patience, begins name-calling.

I suggest we do not feed the energy monsterette. Just refer him it to the newsgroups.

Mike,
In no way is this intended to be provocative or inflammatory, but why is your friend unable to ask this question on this forum on her own account? I often access websites via computers other than my home machine. Surely it would extinguish all the obvious and rather distasteful ill-feeling apparent in this thread.
As I am a 'newbie' to the Naim Forum perhaps I am speaking out of turn. If so, I apologise.
Reginald.

Hey Harry The K

Is that the final version?

Not sure why the thread was pulled: last thing I posted was my fourth time of asking you if you had racist views... ISTR that you failed to answer. I was away when it was pulled: no doubt your tiresome namecalling and profanity was just too much. Not sure, dont care, I got over it long ago - sorry that it has stuck i your mind.

If you continue to pollute this thread, I suspect I know where it will go.

BTW, did you ever answer my question - ie. are you racist? Its coming back to me, now you mention it.

I don't know for sure why it was pulled but I assume my reporting your offensive behaviour had something to do with it. We need thick skins to live in here but it was my opinion that you overstepped the bounds of decency. I think the adrenaline on both sides pushed the - for want of a better word - discussion to rather stupid depths which weren't in anyones interests, least of all the forum. I said at the end of the thread that we probably needed to shake hands and apologise to eacother and the forum. It came as no surprise to me that you didn't respond to this.

If anything I'm probably too PC - the racist taunts are a crock - but it's not about that is it? I could start playing your game by pointing out that it's hard to take anyone seriously who verbally abuses his wife and children in public. That type of behaviour probably masks a much wider bigotry. If you're happy to insult your family in here, there's no telling what you're capable of but are not prepared to do publically. That's probably just as well. And so on....

But how many times are we going round this unecessary circle? Arn't you getting just a little bit bored? And no, I will not stop posting in *your* threads, unless asked to do so by a Mod - which you aren't. We need to realise our mistakes and stop this nonsense. That's my opinion, but maybe you're just not capabable. Let's see.

Reginald

Thank you for having taken the time to actually read my questions. She is not registered on this Forum ( and if she does, I'll be astonished.... ) Her home computer is a tad unwell right now, and I had been asking these questions on an alternative system.

There is some personal animosity towards me: some people take offense to me asking if it could be considered to be supporting racism if a racist "joke" is repeated on this Forum. I think it could, which then upsets some.

Personal insults follow: people are very brave in front of a keyboard.

I objected to you copying a racist joke that even included the "N" word. You also said that this was a Racist forum: I disagreed with your statement.

Hardly "my" offensive behaviour.

I did not see this: I have been spending every other weekend ( including this one ) working in an environment that offers no Internet facilities.

If its an olive branch I'm happy to accept it.

As I have previously mentioned, any woman that can yell at me for playing music too loud in a detatched house empty except for me, can rightfully be called "The Nagger." I have never insulted my children: I love them far too much. Others may be abe to tell you just how much....

It does not.

I am getting bored with you raising the "issue", yes.

Some people are kind enough to answer the questions raised: its not too much to ask to keep on track, is it?

OK Mike. Let’s try to hopefully wrap this up. I shouldn’t have to say this and I apologise for boring the arse off everyone else. I totally abhor all types of racism, sexism, religious intolerance and just about any other type of bigotry you can think of.. Despite an unambiguous AUP, this forum supports racism and sexism. That it is posted is not my concern. That it is allowed in here irritates. I thought you were being racist for singling out a small section of the Spanish population – it’s everywhere and there’s no excuse for it. I also thought it inappropriate to ‘take a stand’ in a forum full of racist and sexist abuse in another thread not ten lines down. It’s obvious that you don’t agree with my position but again, that’s not my concern.

I obviously upset you not a little. Normally we just do a bit of banter and move on – that’s The padded Cell for you. I was unprepared for the stream of invective and insults that followed and I admit, I knee jerked and between us we plumbed the depths. Takes two to argue and I put my hand up. Guilty.

Your comments are spiteful, highly offensive and verging on slanderous. It shouldn’t bother me. But you got through. I’m sorry I got you going in the first place and I’m sorry that I threw fuel on your rage and taunted in kind. If you are willing to withdraw you accusations of racism and apologise to me then we can move on. I’d like to. And by way of hopefully clearing the air with you I should also apologise to everyone else for my angry behaviour in their forum. But like I said Mike, it takes two. So what’s your position?

I have to disappear for a few days to do some work with a client. I don’t know if this thread will even be here when I get back. If it is, I look forward to reading your response. You’re probably a nice bloke in person. I’m told I am too – why don’t we prove it?
