I disagree, bigmick.
I have not contributed 'a drip feed of baseless prejudice against France and the countries of Europe'. I merely said that I'm not a fan of European diplomacy and I described their recent negotiations with Iran as 'ineffectual'. That is my view and I'm perfectly entitled to hold it.
I would cite Iran's 'tinkering' with the agreement reached 10 days ago with France, Britain and Germany to freeze all of Iran's uranium enrichment activities and thus, according to European officials, threatening to scuttle the agreement, as an example of precisely what I'm talking about.
I believe that Iran is giving Europe the runaround and, I repeat, I'm entitled to this opinion, although you may disagree with it. I would not describe my position as in any way comparable with anti-semitism or racism and if my views cause you offence, then that's really too bad.

I happen to agree that the ban should not have been reversed but in the spirit of media balance, surely you should have added that the continuance of the licence is conditional on the company not broadcasting any material considered to be racist or inciting racism. If they do so, the license will be revoked forthwith.
Yes, I believe that this is a condition of the continuance of the licence. However, rumours are flying that France traded the renewal of the licence for the release of the French hostages in Iraq and, whereas I'm in no position to comment on the truth or otherwise of these rumours, you will excuse me if I remain a little sceptical about the whole licence renewal issue.

Where there is a prejudice, be it anti French, Jew, Islam, British, there will always be a tendency to cherry pick the news and to establish the exception as the rule. Subconsciously I suspect we've all done it, but the trick is to stop doing it, to allow yourself to see and present the balanced picture.
Let me be absolutely clear. I am totally and vehemently against any prejudice, whether it's against Jews, blacks, the French, Muslims or anyone else. I find your statement, like the previous post that I quoted (sarcastically) as 'marvellous stuff', more than a little condescending.
Enjoy Moe's and have a good weekend. I'm driving off to Italy on Sunday and am looking forward to that. You probably won't be too disappointed to hear that I will be out of contact for a few days.

Nothing strange with that. Remember, Musolini was a member of the Italian Communist party before starting his own. Nazi stands for National Socialism. Communism and Fascism has most things in common, starting with them being totalitarian and non democratic.
What could be argued is that the words left and right in politics can only be used when we are talking democracy. I.e. a dictatorship can't be described with the terms left or right.quote:
To repeat those wise words once again from Dr Hans Blix the jist of which were basically, How can we possibly justify intervention into Iran as we ourselves in the West (right across the board) quite happily shipped to the Shar all the Nuclear technology and materials he requested (at a luvvly jubbly price naturally).
Here in Hans Blix home country we only sell weapons to nations that's not at war. Like Yugoslavia in the 1970's and 80's (Swedes who was involved in the Zerbian conflict around 1999 has reported how strange it felt to be shot at by weapons of our own manufacture).

Cheers for that Johan, a good post with its eye opening content.
