If you could be in any band... which one would it be?

Just wondering, after watching Marilyn Manson videos and seeing how much fun they seem to have.

Pink Floyd? The Corrs? ( I think you can guess why... )

It would have to be Pink Floyd. I could make so many people happy this year by reforming and touring.(Might make a couple of bob too, must be getting a bit low). Roll Eyes

Any of Louis Armstrong's groups between 1926 and 1930, or Sun Ra's Arkestra.

I would also be in Pink Floyd but only so that I could cite some musical differences with the other members and punch Gilmour's lights out.

I would then excercise my rights under copyright law to prevent anyone playing any Floyd album ever again.

Matthew, could you arrange to have the master tapes destroyed while you're at it?

In the end wouldn't we cast our artistic pretensions to the wind and shoot for the band that would maximize access to drugs and girls (or whatever your preference is)?

Admit it: you'd wind up choosing Van Halen, Whitesnake, Mötley Crüe, or something similar.

Ian -- Yes, as long as you agree to join Yes and nobble Wakeman's Moog.

ejl -- If you join Motley Crue remember to keep an eye on the video tapes.

I'd be right there in the late Lizard King's leather trousers (figuratively speaking, this is not an homoerotic message).

Or maybe Girls Aloud?

Gang of Four or Talking Heads, almost certainly as bass player for either, c.1979/80. Playing as a sessioneer for the Sugarhill Gang would have been pretty good too.

Band member I'd least like to be: guitarist (or..actually anything) in the Fall at any point.

For sitting around not doing stuff and earning huge amounts of money while being feted by the middle classes, it'd have to be the Floyd.

For shags, drugs, Caligulan excess and riches, it'd have to be Led Zeppelin.

For being able to really trance out and play six-hour gigs, it'd have to be Can.

For the chance to make records by blowing into bottles and then living comfortably off the royalties from one song, it would have to be Mungo Jerry.

For being enigmatic and taking 17 years to make an album, it'd have to be Kraftwerk.

Really wouldn't have minded being in Joy Division and New Order, though.
