Political Correctness and fairplay must apply.

Any Takers ?

In the perceived absence of Marco, I nominate Trevor who fearlessly takes up the mantle that was taken away from Marco.

Quote ffrom Herm; I recently caught myself writing 'system' in the traditional fashion - even though I was referring to a Naim sistem.
So I guess it's OK by now to go either way.

Herm,

There is no such word as "sistem", whether it is applied to hi-fi or not. Simple as that. And, eductionist, if you're doing it on purpose that just makes it worse.

Stoppit please!!! Mad

Sistem is dead... long live system

I have just noticed that Nuno is back and asking about racks and spelling the word consistently with a 'y'!!!

He is now asking about racks so I expect this one to run and run...

<Glares at Ross>

You can always go to the Mana forum you know. I understand Marco is a reformed man and even reviews music now.

I see what you mean, Matthew. He really has chilled out - it must be his soulful, chilled out vibe. I can just see him in black skivvy, with a goatee and a glass of chardonnay.

It seems this is still a touchy subject, since my harmless reminiscing on the good old days of Stallion has already been deleted!

Ross

Ross,

What did Stallion do that he still gets the Naim mods all worked up?

Just curious.

Jon, do a search for Marco or Stallion and you'll find a lot of his posts still archived. Makes entertaining reading.

Thanks Markus. Will have a little look...

Today I followed Markus Sauer's advice and unearthed the following thread entitled "I've been FRAIMed in the name of music" and, for those that are interested and want to reminisce, you can go directly to it right now!

IMHO it's a 23 page classic, probably the funniest thread I have ever read. I have been spending all day at work reading it when I err should have been working Red Face but, it's got everything - arguments, spats, personal abuse, racism, put-downs, rancour, the occasionally conciliatory statement and even a cat-fight!

Sadly some of the chief protagonists no longer appear to be on this Forum. However, others still are, such as the legendary Mick Parry, who had a wonderful (IMHO) spat with someone called Mr Pig, who take great pride in winding him up something rotten! Whatever became of Mr Pig? He too is a legend Smile

The funniest aspect of it all though was the thread-starter himself Marco, who I now learn was also known as Stallion. He continuously professed a desire to have constructive, reasoned debate, yet it seemed that when anyone disagreed with anything he said he ummm got rather defensive and didn't like it.

Anyway, I could go on, but I suspect I've gone too far already Eek

Alex & Matthew thanks both of you

Alex I am reassured that Mr Pig is still around.

Matthew, the links are great. I'm loathe to have a go at him cos he's not here to defend himself, but I will say that I don't think Marco/Stallion ever quite realises how unintentionally hilarious he is! I have been laughing myself to sleep Big Grin

Hilarious for about 0.5 of a second perhaps. Seriously Jon you missed nothing. A vast yawning chasm of nothing..
Easily the biggest boob I've ever encountered on any internet forum.

The problem with Marco was not so much an inability on his part to accept others' POV but that a handful of individuals deliberately went out of their way to wind him up. Never would he initiate any mud slinging unless there were still older scores to settle that in turn he hadn't started...

If you can be bothered to trawl through these ancient threads there is a story of a guy spending not inconsiderable amounts of money on kit and then trying to make that kit work to his own satisfaction. Yes, there are some false turns and the odd U-turn, but wind-ups aside (and he was partial to a few himself) he was just sharing his own journey towards hi-fi/musical nirvana with the rest of us.

We both now tread different paths in this respect even if at some point back then it seemed as though I was living in his shadow; I'm still using the Music Works block and leads, and I'm still using the Quadraspire Reference rack. In private conversations we take the piss a bit out of each other's current choice of stand.

When Marco gets his non-magnetic stainless steel Mana rack, a space not too far from here will need to be watched.

Meanwhile, he posts on the new Mana forum

Regards,

Steve.

Steven Toy you absolutely bloody amaze me. I honestly feel there are quite a lot of people on this forum who would be quite happy to give you a break (for staying power if nothing else).

The writing was impeccable though.

The unfortunate thing about archived threads revolving around Welsh rants is the most raucously bizarre ones (I remember one involving his adventures in Amsterdam with Giant Dutch Women, and there was one where Steve G wound up with a motorbike necklace) were deleted because of their supposed inflammatory effects.
