CDS1 Upgrade possibilities...

My dear old CDS1/CDPS will not last forever, I'm afraid. So I'm considering my options viz. upgrades. Will a CDS2 head unit work with my original CDPS, or will I need a SuperCap?

What are the pro/cons of upgrading my existing CDS1 to CDS2 guts, vs. buying a "real" CDS2 secondhand?

Apart from the obvious option of trading it for a '2' or '3' :-

If you can do without it for a while (summer vacation?) send it back to Salisbury UK.

A full service and new transport would breathe fresh life into it. All sorts of tweaks have been learned and implemented by Naim down the years.

And; they might be able to reconfigure it to work with an XPS?

I have a Naim refurbished CD3 that sounds a whole lot better than it did when new; and I've heard a similarly 'breathed-on' CDI (the original machine) at my local dealers sounding bloody amazing.
