Arise Sir Trev

Not a big fan of the honours system, but it's good to see that at last the country's finest (and most underacheiving) footy team is getting some recognition.

The Greatest Hammer Of Them All was never awarded the knighthood he so richly deserved, so it's gratifying that the Second Greatest Iron (who, despite severing formal links with the club, will always have claret and blue coursing through his veins), getting the big sword-gong Mooro never got.

I like to dream one day, our knighted hero will return to lead us out of the wilderness (if, of course, the jury remains out on Pards). (Matthew? Anyone?)

Not many footballers are knighted but the majority seem to have played for West Ham. Nice...

I'm still a Pards fan. Just about.

My mate recenttly called for Sir Trevor to be knighted on national radio (well TalkSport), much to the amusement of Tony Cascarino and Ray Houghton. I like to think the Queen was listening in and his impassioned plea tipped the balance.
