Jersey (Channel Islands)

I’m off to Jersey with my good lady for the bank holiday weekend and was wondering if anyone has got any good recommendations for restaurants, especially of the seafood variety? We’re staying at the Grand in St. Helier but have a hire car so can go further a field if need be.
Also what else would you recommend you go and see/visit in 48hrs? On the list so far is the German underground hospital (she’s a history teacher!), Elizabeth Castle, St Brelade’s bay plus a tour round the north coast, somewhere I didn’t really see when I was there 14 years ago.
Fingers are crossed that the weather holds up!
Cheers,
Steve

Steve,
I tried the petite pomme at the pomme d'or hotel last year and really enjoyed it. Not necessarily a seafood restaurant but if I remember correctly it is within walking distance of where you are staying. I also tried the pottery restaurant which was pretty good but I probably wouldn't go again as it is I found it quite noisy.

Steve,
There is an outdoor BBQ on the South coast about 5 miles East of St Helier, I can't remember the name of it but its very well known and highly recommended. You can basically pick what food you want and they will BBQ it for you. They have a wide variety of seafood, steaks chicken etc, their seafood special is spectacular and includes virtually everything you could imagine.
On a warm sunny night its a wonderful eating experience.
With regards to the underground hospital, I havn't actually been but my parents have and its quite an experience, but I warn you it's quite a cold eerie experience.

Steve,
I've been to Jersey and the Underground hospital and it's quite impressive. There's also a small museum elsewhere on the island which is based on the wartime occupation, which I also recommend. Can't understand why you hired a car though! There's enough already on the island as it is and you can walk from one side to the other in less than a day - I know cos I have!!
Have a good time.

Open an offshore banking account - it is all the rage and you never know when you might need one

Thanks chaps! Lots to chew over there it seems. That BBQ place sounds good if the rain stays at bay and Petite Pomme sounds promising too
Roy - give me the money and I'll do the rest!
Cheers,
Steve

Hello, its Mrs Cunningplan here.
I was born and brought up there, but rarely get back now - however, was there for a friend's 40th in March and she took us to a fantastic restaurant at St Aubin (pronounced O-bin or you will sound like a grockle!) called the Salty Dog. Not esp cheap but exceptionally good.
The seafood at the Jersey Pottery restaurant at Gorey is brilliant, and the castle there is good as well, sitting above the harbour.
Zoo pretty good.
Never been to the Underground Hospital despite living less than a mile away for more than a decade!
Have a good time.
Mrs cp
I hope you don't mind the missus hi-jacking the forum temporarily
