Posted by: tomek on 27 April 2004

Hello,
Does anybody is using Nap 250 with a passive preamplifier and is happy with it ?
Whar kind of passive preamp are you using - 10K,20K 50K?
Smile

PS I know that many people will immedaitely write: Naim amps are made to work with naim preamps, etc.

Naim used to maintain that the pre-amp dictates the operating parameters of the power amp.

Thus; they were happy with Naim pre/other make power amp - not vice versa.

The company line may have softened?

As ever; you need to talk to the horse's mouth.

Well, I did the big deed, took a drive to my dealer's and traded in my CD5/FC2 for an almost new CDX2. Actually in 2 months he just got it burned in for me but that is the life of adealer right? At first I was unimpressed but gradually a smile was on my lips when I heard what it did to acoustic guitar and more punch in the low end. I started off with Mark Knopfler's "Golden Heart" with a great mix of guitars and subtle detail to his playing. Then the Beatles' "Let it Be...Naked", the detail in "Across the Universe" was wonderful, lots of other subtle things in the background came out too. Now I'm rocking out to Bonnie Raitt's "Silver Lining" CD and having a really good time. Well, time to go back and have a drink and celebrate a good buy.

Life is analogue
