Anyone seen the third generation iMacs yet?
They look so cool, prices aren't too bad either, esp the 20-in model with 160 GB hard drive.

Looks fantastic!
OK, so I've never owned a Mac but am considering one for my new house...few questions:
a) how much does MS-Office cost? Are there any (cheaper/free) alternatives?
b) I have a D-Link wifi/DSL router...I assume I just need an airport extreme card?
cheers

a) not sure, but Macs come bundled with Appleworks 6, which will take care of basic word processing, spreadsheets and doodling.
b) I think so - I have a cheapy Belkin wifi/router and my airport card in my ibook has no problem.
cheers,
Dan

Looks neat, but reminds me of the all-in-one Sony that was big among students in Japan a few years back. That, and a recent Gateway. Neither were successful in the US. So why are all-in-one Apples a hit and all-in-one PCs a bomb (here)?

You could be right Garyi, this is what 'Stuff' magazine thought of Alienware:
"The looks that thrill:
Nothing looks cooler or more badass than an Alienware. Aside from the alien face on the top with glowing eyes (which function as power indicators: green is AC power, blue is battery power and red is standby), the metallic-blue casing and rubber grips on the top are something Macintosh could only dream of.
Thing that made us love it:
First, it arrived in a cool black box with a "top secret" dossier explaining what's loaded in it and how to use it and a personalized credit card with our name and account number in case anything goes wrong. Next, the built-in wireless card immediately found our router and we were online in seconds. The best part, however, was when we tossed in Far Cry, the first game we played to completion on it. We saw God in those moments. Please, could we have a moment of silence. (…) Thank you.
Final verdict:
…Alienware computers are as good as it gets, and this laptop is the Ferrari of gaming computers. Just check out the specs. It's like dating a supermodel: great to look at, intimidating at first, but incredibly inviting once you get comfortable. Or we can only imagine. We give this über-machine a resounding yea."
