saw ywesterday in vienna zappa musical joes Garage.Great performance in porgy and Bess club. The scrootanizer was spoken in german, and
so it was the first time i could follow the whole genious story.think zappas conception
of joes garage 1,2,3 was to bring out it as amusical.so my question:has it been performed live
elswhere, and in other interpretations than i saw it yesterday in vienna?Did Zappa play the whole story also live on stage?

O.J.,
Joe's Garage was NEVER intended as a musical. In fact quite the opposite.
Frank was very prolific in the mid to late 70s. If you listen to bootlegs or the more recent Zappa family released live concerts from that era, you'll hear many of the tunes that made it to Joe's Garage.
Frank had several album's worth of material which became Joe's Garage and You Are What You Is. He simply took all the songs and tied them together as a story; they were never written to be part of a "concept" album but cleverly ended up that way.
Because of the popularity of joining unrelated songs together to make a record, he later put out the "Broadway Musical" entitled Thingfish which took previously released Zappa songs and tied them together, though many of the songs' lyrics were changed and some were original new songs.
I would pay big money to see Thingfish performed live.

HY Ron!It was realy worth for me to start this
zappa topic, because of the information i received from you.At the moment there are two
Zappa performances in Vienna.look there: www.porgy.at
Today i go to see the second one:roxy and elswhere.
Maybe you think this look like a "vienniese mainstream commercial thing"but imo it is not.
Great sound great musicians and the original songs from the record in"zappa like interpretation".I know also that there was an austrian Guitarrist:Harry Stojka who was wanted
for Zappas Band in the eightys,And concious or not the performances of the excessive band "Drahdiwaberl"imo one of the best live performers all over the world is influenced by Zappa.
Saw your homepage and noticed a lot of intresting things:active kans, the ninka tweeters, and the stripped regaarm. My Question
to you:whats the carmodel infront of your Vinyl?

One of the single biggest regrets of my life is not being born early enough to see Zappa live.
Listening to Waka Jawaka right now.

So Joe dresses like a housewife and learns to speak German? If it’s originally done in German does he learn to speak English?
Joes Garage is excellent.
I saw Frank twice a long time ago. It was at a college in Virginia. They had to stop the show several times cause everyone was throwing their clothes on stage.

Contrary to how my translation came across, I think the musical sounds cool and the world needs more anti-censorship live musical performances. Especially when the songs include "Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?"
Sorry for my lousy photography! There are actually a couple dozen car "models" there. I have been collecting "Hot Wheels" mini cars since day one (1969). I display my favorite Hot Wheels on that wall shelf above my 1904 Victor 78 player. I am a huge Mopar/Chrysler/Hemi fan so most of my collection reflects that. My favorite all time "perfect" car is the 1966/'67 Pontiac GTO; and I saw quite a few of them at the Woodward Dream Cruise the past few days and I have several models of that.
The model you specifically asked about is another one of my all-time favorites: the 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger, equipped with the mighty 426 Hemi. The other three Hot Wheels next to it are (left to right) 1968 Charger and two 1969 Daytona Chargers.
Also, that vinyl bookcase is only a fraction of my records. In fact, the entire bottom shelf of that case is ALL Zappa; bootlegs and original releases.
