Hi Lyndon,
Yes the Wall was issued by mfsl, i have only ever seen one copy, and even though i offered £100,(not long after it came out) the owner wouldnt part with it, not sure but think it was a limited edition. If you try looking hard enough you may find one for sale.
Mfsl also issued Meddle, of which i do have a mint copy, but dont recall them doing any other Floyd albums, but maybe someone else knows better.
Regards Mike.

Sorry to be pedantic, but that’s not a MFSL it’s a Columbia Master Sound gold Sony re-mastered thingy.

Lyndon,
The Wall was released on MFSL gold cd. They released it as a long box version and normal double cd square box. The only real difference was the outer cardboard packaging.
It was released for exactly one year only, then deleted. Strange for MFSL.
You can still find them sealed on Ebay, but you will have to pay about $250, like I did.
This is the ultimate version of The Wall. It was mastered from the original master tapes and a lot of attention was taken over it. Roger Waters personally oversaw the mastering to make sure he was happy with it and if you know anything about Floyd, he was a fussy git.
Second best version is the original UK vinyl release. Look for TML inscribed in the run-out groove. This indicates The Mastering Lab cut it.
The Jap vinyl pressing is crap.

hi count.d
i'm suprised you say the jap pressing is crap i've bought plenty of these and they're far superior to the uk issues, but not up to mfsl, that's why i want to replace my uk issue which has tml in the run out grooves
thanks lyndon

ANSWERING MY OWN QUESTION
No the wall was not issued by mfsl, but they will be releasing vinyl again very soon, so i'll get a jap 1st pressing and compare it with the original uk issue (my prob is side one has got damaged somehow - can only blame it on my ex if i'm to be fair).
maybe one day we might see an mfsl issue.
thanks for all the help lyndon

Hi Lyndon,
Mofi produced a set of 2 Ultradiscs: UDCD 2-537. They were until a month ago for sale from http://www.amusicdirect.com for a mere US$549!!!! They claim they bought the stock from Mofi when they went bankrupt. I checked and they apparently run out of stock as The Wall is not listed in their catalogue anymore.
It is absolute fantastic sound with a dramatic improvement in dynamics.
I do have a set but I will not sell. Happy hunting for your copy.
Regards, Arno

ANSWERING MY OWN QUESTION
Your question was answered in the above posts.
If you weren't so ignorant and ill mannered, people would be more forthcoming with advice. However, as you think that generally Jap pressings are superior to Uk issues, advice would be wasted on you.

count.d
didn't think i was being ill mannered or do you say this because i think jap pressings are generally superior to uk pressings?
Ignorant; yes, ignorant to whether there was a mfsl vinyl release of the wall.
But we are all ignorant of some things, as are you with your TML comment, TML is to be found on both the 1st and 2nd pressings. The easy difference is the thumb notch is longer on the 1st issue and the SHSP numbers in the run out grooves are lower ie SHSP 411 A-2U instead of SHSP 411 A-9U.
For me in the absecne of a mfsl i shall go for a jap pressing and find out which is better, even if i wanted a uk 1st issue i've got virtually no chance of getting it.
thanks for all your help lyndon

I say you were ill mannered, because you were ill mannered to everyone.
My TML comment was a very short reply to a very basic question. When someone asks such a basic question as "is The Wall available on MFSL vinyl" I take it that they have very little knowledge on Floyd pressings and so I give a snippet of information to let them search for.
1st pressings are not just distinguishable from second pressings by the thumb notch, but by four other factors.
Also, the low numbered stampers on the runout groove basically mean sod all, as it only shows which master has been used to press the vinyl and is not necessarily 1 or 2.

Yes, you should take the 'o' out. Preferably on a very long walk in the country and try to find some manners.
You will have noticed that the first reply to your question was positive.
Please stop the abuse and try to be civil - it's not that difficult.

My 2 pence on MFSL’s.
I used to work at Radford Hi Fi, Bristol in the mid 80’s, we would often use an MFSL as a demo disc on the more modest equipment, say a Dual 505 or a Planar 2, NAD amp and Mission speakers. These pressings sounded impressive and very flattering of the hardware.
If we did a dem of a full blown Linn Naim system then the MFSL’s nearly always sounded overblown and inferior to a standard first pressing. I believe that the mastering was done at half speed and this screwed up the bass. In the high end kit the MFSL’s always sounded a lot more hi fi and somewhat less musical.
For all that I still have an MFSL copy of Meddle and one of Earl Klug (sp?), Finger Paintings.
