Just get a CDS3, 500-series amplification, DBLs, all the XPSs and 'Caps, and be done with it.

Suggest that you have a look at the five suggested systems available on the Naim home page.

Hi ian
i was the same as you
so i went on ebay and got a naim nait3 for 286
and it sounds amazing
i got nac5 cable on ebay for 37pounds
im using it with my nad502 cd player which is a older
model and a budget cd player.
but it all sounds very good
im using AS speakers at the moment(90pounds new)
so another budget lot
but it all sounds better then anything else
i have ever heard
im even playing my brothers paul young cd
the system just really makes music fun
i am having a pair of floorstand speakers made
for me for 210,they are alot like the new
naims speakers that lean back as they get to the top
although these are not using the same drives of cause
so dont worry ian
you do not need to have loads of money to go the naim path
infact i have seen naims on ebay go for 110
although they were the half width ones
like this nac42.5
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3280&item=5739993710&rd=1
and speaker cable too
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=32833&item=5739650327&rd=1
at the moment i can not see a lot of naim stuff though
just one of caution though
only bid for a item if the seller takes cheques and is willing to let you view and provides you with a working telephone number as you do get scams on ebay
also check that he has plenty of feedback
just check the posts on the hi fi forum to see some naim ebay scams
Another place to look is in what hi-fi magazine as some of the shops with ads sale 2nd hand
naims
you can also just call shops and ask if they have any 2nd hand naim stuff and if they do not
get them to call you as soon as they do
this is a good way to get a naim amp/cd player
as going the brand new way is costly
so just focus on say the amp first
once you got that
your on your way
hope all this helps,
jason
