Or press F3, select "My Music Folder" from the first drop down list and click OK.
if I want to record them to my mp3 player, how do I go about converting them to mp3's or can I leave them as wma files (I have an iRiver hp140)The iRiver can play WMA so there is no need (aprt from one annoying limitation) to convert them.
To copy them over, no special software is needed and your iRiver just works like a regular hard disk:
1. Connect your iRiver with the lead supplied.
2. A dialog should appear asking you what you want to do with the new device. The option "Open an explorer window so I can copy files to or from my device" (Or something like that) should appear.
2a. If it doesn't go to "My Computer" and you should find a new "hard disk" called something like "E: (HP-140)". Open this.
3. This is your iRiver and Windows Explorer shows you what is already stored there. You can add and delete stuff directly just like a regular hard disk.
4. Go to "My Computer" and find your "My Music" folder and open it. You should see a list of the artists/albums stored as folders in your music library.
5. Drag the files you want from "My Music" to your i-River. If you have a lot of music, Go make a cup of tea.
6. This will copy the files over and allow you to play them by browsing iRiver's folder menus but won't allow you to use the "Browse By Artist", "By Genre" feature. This feature requires you to rebuild the iRiver index -- which is easy enough but unfortunately doesn't work with WMA files, only with MP3. For this reason you might want to convert to MP3, depending on how much music you have ripped.
7. Alternatively, you can buy
iRivium Explorer which has a number of advantages over the native iRiver integration. Specifcally it allows you to index your collection for all file types not just MP3 and it allows much better playlist support (which is essentially none existant on the iRiver).
