EW&F's first al***

Posted by: Kevin-W on 14 June 2004

I bought this (Earth Wind & Fire's first, eopnymous album from 1971) the other day, a Rhino reissue on 180g vinyl.

What a stonker!!! knew acouple of the tracks already (C'Mon Children, Fan The Fire), but it's brilliant from stat to finish, no filler! It's a much harder sound than the joyful epics they later developed.

I heartily recommend it. But does anyone know what the 4th track on Side 2 - not credited on the sleeve or label - is?

Thannks in advance

I don't have this but understand like a lot of EWF albums it contains several instrumental interludes that are unlisted, however from this site

http://www.homdrum.no/ewf/index.html

I found this, so maybe this explains what is on your reissue -

"Some old vinyl pressings of the the album EWF, contains the track "Handwriting on the wall". This track is not the same as "Writing on the wall", which was the b-side (45") of "System of survival".

IMHO, EWF's All'n All is the best album of its genre ever made, with the instrumental track 'runnin' a particular favourite of mine, and a good test of any naim system. The recent CD reissue with unreleased bonus tracks is excellent.
