SNAICs colour

All my black SNAICs directionality strips are white, except one, which is green...

Does this actually mean anything...

Did you buy the black SNAICs as an upgrade, and if so, what is the cost?

I got mine last year and they are significantly better than the grey ones. I seem to remember paying £55 each, or there abouts.

Go get 'em.

Neil, i did upgrade to the black snaic's, the improvement was worthwhile for me as i managed to sell the grey snaics for £35 each !!!, and bought blacks for £50 each.

Who's gonna buy a grey SNAIC?

Your powers of persuasion must be strong, MOY SAN [Transl: my son].

True Andrew, i sold all my grey snaics about a year ago. At the time i was just going to experiment with a few (make my own rca to din interconnect), but i thought i've got nothing to lose so i advertised them in the Loot.

To be honest i never imagined anyone would buy them (you just don't need 5 of these things in one go).

I did prompt the guy who bought a few times as to why he wanted them, but he did'nt really answer, so i used an old jedi mind trick (kept quite and took the cash), saying that everyone seems to be trying the same trick but the average price in the Loot is £25.

On the subject of SNAICs, is there way of telling the directionality other than the white strip? I have a very old SNAIC and the white strip had slipped so far that it was in the middle (This occurred when the SNAIC was disconnected for moving house).

I had the same problem on an old grey snaic, to put it simply you'll know when its pointing the correct direction (in my experience its bring a further increase in dynamics, in contrast a cable in the wrong direction which tends to glaze over the detail a little and supresses some of the dynamics).

Hope this helps ...

Naheed,

sounds pretty dodgy to me.

Perhaps the bloke who needed them had acquired some boxes in a hurry, but didn't have time to get all the leads as the alarms were ringing and there were sirens in the distance.

Probably just me being paranoid.

Some people put away their old kit and then sell them, losing the snaics in the process.

Also, some 15-20 year old cables can be in bad condition, and could use "bargain" replacement.

Finally, some may want to experiment with them.
