Problems palying DVD disks
Posted by: rod ayling on 21 October 2004
Hi,
Has anyone out there had problems playing DVD disks, that will play fine on one machine and then screw up on another.
I own a current Denon DVD 2200 , which has been modified for multi region . I never normally buy Region 1 disks , but when the only option of buying the US sitcom 'Soap' on DVD was on Region 1 , I just had to go for it.
On a scene from one of the episodes ,the player/ disk just seems to stick , trying to move forward a frame or two , then gives up the ghost and then skips onto the next chapter. I've got friends to try the DVD on their multi region machines and on a Pioneer and Philips the scene played absolutely fine. But when attempted on a cheaper Toshiba machine, the same scene caused problems again and on the Toshiba the machine just locked up and stayed like that , until you manually cleared it.
Anyone know why this happens ? I don't watch hundreds of DVD's , but the problem has occured on two other disks. One a DVD +R and another a bootleg DVD , which previously played ok on my old Pioneer machine.
Is this a disk problem or is it my player (still under gurantee ).
Anyone else out there had problems like this ?
Thanks,
Rod
