The Mojo Guide - Recommended

I love books about popular music, particularly about albums ("100 Great Albums of the Sixties", "Rolling Stone Album Guide"); I must commend Mojo magazine (UK) for a book I just bought entitled "The Mojo Collection (third edition)", edited by Jim Irvin & Colin McLear. It comprises 1-page articles on albums released since the beginning of the format, more than 700 in fact. Some you've heard of, some very obscure, it makes fascinating reading and a great way to get suggestions of albums to help complete your collection. Even has information on whether a particular album has been released on CD, and, if so, the catalog # is included. It's not elitist either; the Velvet Underground co-exists with Bread, for example.
I've always been impressed with Mojo, as they seem to have a great sense of the importance of the history of pop music, as opposed to just focusing on the trendy and new. In fact I wish the US had a magazine like it! (Mojo costs a fortune at newsstands here...)
