Anybody else feel Adam Meredith's the kiss of death to a thread?
Posted by: Deane F on 03 October 2004
It seems to me that a few lively threads have ended with Adam's contribution. Anybody else feel this way? (He says expecting no answer).
I think he's paranoid because the same thing used to happen to him as a teenager when I hung about (with people like him) in a crowd including the gorgeous girl who's now my wife and his contribution to the conversation would result in "Is that right?" followed by silence. Next (moderator?) topic please.

Surely you mean
"The Lord Protector of Bandwidth" ?
(or "Have you noticed there is no "f"in bandwidth" ?)

Blimey.
Saucer of milk to table five...
If you think that racist and sexist comments are acceptable on this Forum, then fine, but Adam does not.
Its Naims' Forum: they pay the bills , they make the rules. This place is *considerably* less moderated than one other Hi Fi forum I could mention - generally, crass, dumb or plain stupid comments are dealt with by other contributors wading in.
Regards
Mike

Do you know what irony is, Baldrick?
Yes Master, it's the same as goldy and silvery.
Mike Lacey, has a posting been moderated while I've been away?

Your world is about to be shaken to its core - I have no idea if a post has been moderated while you have been away, as, astonishingly, I have not been tracking your presence.
As an aside I do not monitor every thread in real time, either. Stunning news or what.
If you would care to pm when you next require me to note your presence, I will of course give your request the attention it deserves.
Every bit of it.
Regards
Mike

Well, if Adam insists on locking the thread...
Which, incidentally, prevented me from replying to Steve
(Thus needlessly exhausting a fifth of my Japanese vocabulary in a pathetic attempt to achieve lasting glory by getting a mention in Matthew's "Classic Quotes" thread).

Has anyone seen the new Honda diesel engine advert? If not, it looks like this must be the end of this thread.

I can't be totaly sure,diminishing grey cells,
but if my memory serves me correctly when first registering on this forum, there is a set of rules Quite correctly laid down by Naim. Registing as a member means acceptance of those rules, Apart from that ,the raciest comments[let alone his other remarks] made by "pete888"[ I think thats correct] would have clearly left Naim wide open to action by the Race relations Board I have never agreed with censorship but I think a line has to be drawn where comments such as those made, can and would cause offence
to others, they certainly offended me
Adam was correct in what he did, if there could be any criticism made it is imho it was not acted on fast enough, but it's a very difficult line to walk trying to allow free speach and please all, without seeming to censor or restrict opinions
oldie.

I get the feeling Deane was making a joke. The jokiness is the giveaway.

Mike:
"Its Naims' Forum: they pay the bills"
sort of, but i dont agree, its us customers that make it possible with the profit Naim make. Agreed its "theirs" but its not that simple IMO

Deane,
it was quite good, quite funny, but, as Alannis would have said;
"A little TOO ironic"
I liked it.

I didn't read the posts below the first one before posting my last post, so apologies for posting my attempt at humour in the midst of some sort of misunderstanding.
I think I must have missed something somewhere - all I know is that Adam (presumably) closed the Anybody else feel they're the kiss of death to a thread? thread, thereby ensuring that his post was the kiss of death to the thread.
If he has also been deleting offensive posts, rather than leaving some of us with the temptation to take the law into our own hands, then all I can say is, "Well done!"

Per our PMs I had misunderstood your comments, not having seen the other threads.
My apologies for yapping away.
