Pot Noodles

Posted by: Rasher on 24 October 2004

I'm sitting here at work on a Sunday at lunchtime with Pot Noodles.
OK there is masses of salt in there, but apart from that, is there really any harm in this crap? Hardly any fat at all!
Surely it has to be better than eating bread every day?

I understand the pot has about the same nutritional value as the content, so don't forget to finish it all.

Must be better for you than this:

Eek
The "bun" the refer to must be a loaf of bread!!!
9 pounds of meat = 4 Kilos!! It just wouldn't physically fit inside your stomach.
Thanks Throb - I feel no guilt about the Pot Noodles now. Smile

Rasher, do you know about this place?

http://www.snackspot.org.uk/

it's the sort of slashdot of snacks, - well worth keeping an eye on.

Someone gave me a Terry's Chocolate Orange Sparkler [chocolate orange with Space Dust] the other day and it was very strange indeed.

ps this reminds me of an old Aussie joke
How do you cook a Galah[I think this is the correct spelling, its a member of the Aussie parrot family], Take one galah plucked and drawn bring to the boil in a billy can with salt and a old boot then after 3 hour simmering throw away the galah and eat the boot, pot noodles must be just the same.

If "pot noodles" are anything like what we lummoxes in NZ call "instant noodles", then I believe they are deep fried and then dried, which is why they cook quickly. So not very low fat.

Nong Shim Shin Cup is my favourite pot noodle, as the sauce is less like gravy. It doesn't taste as unhealthy as the Golden Wonder version.

Surely that is regarded as a cup-noodle. An eastern "instant snack" with a more than acceptable flavour.

Pot Noodles are sinister - they must be one of the few foods that actually have a half-life. Avoid at all costs..........

I have two out of date bacon sizzler pot noodles free to a good home or museum.

I suggest calling your local council who should be able to arrange safe disposal free of charge.

It's cheaper than Pot Noodle. The name says cup, the package says pot.

The pot that is residing in my bin says 2.2% saturated fat, which isn't that bad, but I am now put off, so Oldie - no thanks, really!

Its not the fat content that worries me, its the amount of colouring and addatives that it has in it that puts me off it.

A salad cob would be far more nutritious.

But every day?
I have a deli a few doors from my office, and when I go to get something for lunch every day, it gets tiresome. Being a veggie narrows it down even more, especially that I try to avoid cheese and bread.
I am the cook at home & I can't be bothered to prepare something for work as well.
I wish we could just take tablets that would do the job.
I won't do Pot Noodles again. It really isn't a good idea.

Funny, it's the fact that all the ones I've tried taste bloody awful that put me off Winker

Avoiding bread is a bad idea. Bread is an essential part of a balanced diet.

That's my only food advice, apart from the old saying, "Never eat anything that's bigger than your own head".

Rasher,
I was going to mention it yesterday, but didn't want to spoil your Noodly thing
whats the matter with your local "just round the corner actully" Veggy Indian Restaurant in Ship St. We havent been there for a while but it used to be very good, as much as you can consume and cheap, much better for you than that plasticized poison in a pot.

You mean Norries. Yeah, it is still good, but not that good. I was last there about 2 months ago. It wasn't cheap either!

Rasher,
No I dont mean Norries, isnt there one, sort of opposite the General Post Office called ALOO something or another ,sorry I can't remember its name just a couple of doors up from The Steamer Tradeing Co. Last time we ate there[ a few years ago I suppose, it wasn't brilliant but defiantly better than poison in a pot Winker
