I'm in the US - New York. I have a dedicated power line for my system in my house with its own separate ground to the earth. What amp circuit breaker should I be using? There is a 20 amp in there now - should it be a 15 amp instead?

I'm surprised no-one else has responded to this especially since there was much other talk of safety (non-death) on another thread. If you are unsure, you need a professional electrician to inspect your home. Immediately put a 15 amp breaker in. Size of breaker relates to equipment being used, number of outlets, guage of wire, length of wire, and total power draw. In the past it was hard to find an electrician who didn't think you were nuts for wanting a separate circuit panel but nowadays it's easier because of the popularity of home entertainment systems and computers. I have a friend who is an electrician and he says most new construction have two separate breakers for family rooms and extra outlets to accomodate the additional equipment.BTW even though my friend installed a separate panel (one phase for power-amps, other phase for everything else) for me he still thinks I'm nuts!!
