The Ith Interforum Olympiad

All,

I have been wondering lately which is the best forum? That is, which of Naim and PFM has the most witty, charming, intelligent and generally wonderful posters. Ok this is a bit like asking “Who’s your favourite dictator?”, but that aside I propose a competition to determine the answer to this important question.

So, basically, we have a simple task designed to test your creative juices posted on both the Naim and PFM forums. The inhabitants of each forum then post on their respective threads and after a while I shall judge the replies and nominate one or the other as “Best Forum Ever”.

The Task

Simply suggest a website, or websites, you think should exist. That is, give it a domain name and a brief description of what it’s about. You try to make it funny, clever, insightful, weird, thought provoking, whatever and thus demonstrate your forums undoubted superiority and general all round brilliance.

For example:

www.gilf.com – ‘Geek I’d Like to Fuck’ is a place for young attractive models who harbour sexual fantasies about 30 something balding IT workers to meet, chat about Geeks, and leave their contact details.

www.BromptonX.com – Site devoted to tricks, racing and vert riding on the famous small-wheeled folding commuter bicycles made by Brompton. Includes footage of Lehman Brothers Pro Commuter Jeff Schlemberg pulling the first ever in competition 360 Frame Fold over the down escalators at Cannon St.

Etc, etc.

Scoring

I shall award one point for entries deemed “good” and deduct 1 point for lame ass, loser entries I don’t like. Unremarkable entries will get 0 points.

The scoring will be done using the latest advanced scientific methods to objectively rate entries on the ISO standard GOOD – LAME axis. Or it might be utterly capricious, I haven’t decided yet.

So over to you. And remember, your forums reputation and honour is at stake…

Artificially inflates your post count(without anyone noticing) to obtain the stature and influence denied to those with less than (or equal to) 500 posts within three years.

Big Grin Big Grin

Although (thinking about it), I can think of two past/present members (or more acurately maybe, one and a half) who have staggering post counts but zero stature and influence. Perhaps you meant "splatter and effluence"?

http://www.forumproblem?-get-help-here.infopop.net

We are a group of virtual people who meet regularly in a safe forum environment to help each other stay nasty-forum-free. The forum offers a six-step programme (12 Step programmes are so passe) to help users recover and the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using forums to satisfy the peer-group instinct.

These are the steps that make recovery possible:

1) We admitted we were powerless over threads and that our off-topic replies had become unmanageable.

2) We came to believe that a Moderator greater than ourselves could help us in our recovery.

3) We made a decision to turn our opinions and our posts over to this Moderator.

4) We made a searching and fearless personal inventory of our inability to read the cold written word without flying to emotional conclusions about the poster's intentions and personality.

5) We admitted to The Moderator, to ourselves, and to other members of the forum the exact nature of the vastly over-inflated confidence we seem to have in the rectitude of our positions.

6) Having had a virtual awakening as a result of these steps we tried to carry this message to other forums and to practice these principles in all our posts.

Markus,

The raw scores were Naim 4 PFM 1. However, I have fined Naim 3 points for the recent outbreaks of utter cuntery that we've had over the last few days.

Hence, the final result is a draw.
