Marillion - 'Marbles'

I'm tempted to get the album, as I particularly like 'You're Gone'.

Your comments please.

I think Marillion are in the position of many other old bands; plenty of talent, skilled at their craft, but stuck in time. There just isn't a market for this, apart from loyal old fans. The recording is a bit fussy too.

Used to be a massive Marillion fan, all the way from Script... but gave up at Brave, partly because it was the last vinyl LP and I only got a CD player 18mths ago, partly because it was all sounding a bit samey.

An alcohol-fuelled amazon session last weekend saw me buying Marbles. first impressions were.... it sounds just the same as where I left off.

So to concur with the 'doc, if more of the same is what you want, get straight out there and buy it.

Who's Tim Malloy?

I'm an Evertonian, I'm guessing the song isn't unique to us.

Good guess Steve. It's Celtic's song, obviously adopted by others of a similar persuasion. Wink

I am led to believe that the album was effectively financed by the band and fans contributions?

I see it's on the 'INTACT' label. Is that exclusive to Marillion?

OK; it's pleasant, but somewhat derivitive of 1970's Genesis and Pink Floyd.

There's even a track that starts with someone tuning around stations on a radio.

Now where have I heard that (nearly 30 years ago)?
