I wonder what 'I've had these macaroons on a low light since Wednesday' is in Japanese?

I'll admit to seeing a pair of them on 'Richard and Judy' about a month ago, doing a synchronised dance routine to music.

Remarkable.

I saw that too, but I thought they were made by Sony.

What's wrong with watching Richard and Judy anyway?

Ive actually met this erm.... 'person' and its mindblowing what it can actually do already...
If Honda continue to develope it at this rate I reckon it will hold the fastest lap of donnington within the next 10 years! now that really will be scary..

I first saw an attempt at robot walking more than thirty years ago, and I'm fascinated that it's taken so long for robots to reach this point.

Does anyone here understand what the difficulties have been? I'd have thought that processor speed cannot have been an issue for at least a decade, and any lack of human understanding of the process of walking could have been solved using AI learning. My intuition was obviously wrong but I have no idea why...

I suspect it comes down to sensor technology and control algorithms.

The human ear is an astonishingly complex, amazingly sensitive and remarkable system that forms the basis of our sense mechanism for balance, and I'm not aware of a single sensor analogous to it.

You'd need all manner of gyroscopes and acceleration sensors and then develop some stable control law to utilise these inputs.

It's very easy with this sort of stuff to go beyond the sensors capabilities and create catastrophically unstable systems, I bet there's some great footage that they don't show publicly Winker

You've also only got certain 'motor' outputs to keep the system stable and upright AND you want it to emulate human behaviour, which no doubt makes it harder.

Astonishing stuff really.
