CD5/Flatcap2/Nac82/NAP250/KEF Reference Two-twos

I had a listen to this system yesterday and it was bleedin brilliant. Mary Chapin Carpenter's "A Place in the World" became a live performance before my ears. Impact and subtlety in one huge go.Naim can image too, I noticed, although the focus of the image is not as sharply etched as with my Densen B200/300 combination, but it makes up for that elsewhere. I would have tried the CDX with it but it was out on loan at the time.

Very similar to a (more balanced) system tried at my house recently - CDX/XPS, 82/250, 2-2s.

I thought the 2-2s had a drier bass than the original 2s, but no more detail in the midrange (which is a very high level anyway). I felt the bass better integrated but the overall effect was quite 'loud' - which may have been due to the almost zero run-in time the speakers had had beforehand. I imagine they'd improve a lot after running in; sadly I may not find out.

Also the KEFs seem to prefer CD a lot more than vinyl; strange.
