Jerry Lee Lewis

Last night went down the road to see Jerry Lee Lewis followed by Chuck Berry.
JLL, once he had been led on by a stage-hand (God - I can't believe I'm going to these things!!) and had warmed up a bit, was awesome. He's still got some fire in there. He looked like he is in his 80's, but he's not even 70 yet! Obviously had too much fun. I just stood there and thought how important this guy is to the shaping of music as we know it (Jim). Really pleased I went.
Chuck Berry was right up for it - full-on and raunchy like he was 30. His guitar playing and sound was awful though.
JLL won the day.
The stuff of legends. Cool

I agree. I think it's a shame that the Killer sometimes becomes more of a carnival attraction and musicologists afterthought just because he played "hide the salami" with his cousin.
Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee...the Mount Rushmore group of rock. Without them, does Elvis happen the same way?
Without all of them, do we ever evolve to the Beatles and Stones and Kinks and Animals?
Just thinking about it makes me want to pick up my Fender telecaster, plug into my tweed amp, and put my head up a poodle skirt.
