Frank have you heard it?

Maybe someone from Naim can comment about how the product compares to the other phono stages. Is it any better with keeping out RFI?

Andrew the big advantage with the stageline is the ability to use an external power supply just for the boards. The enviroment is controlled better(especially if using an integrated amp)the grounding improved by having both channels on a single pcb and improved lay out. Yes a 72 with a stageline will be better than with internal phono boards.

The PREFIX is the next step up, the big advantage here is placement, getting rid of the long arm cable and positioning the unit inside the player.
Rf, if you had a problem before it is likely to still be there with a stageline, use the s version is the best choice in this situation. We could make the phono stages rf free but there would be little point in listening to the music that way with so mich filtering. Plenty of other companies do that well enough. The naim phono stages are without equal if music is your bag!

I'm one of the unlucky ones who could not use the Prefix because of RF breakthrough. It was unbelievable! I had one of the public radio stations playing the BBC World Report quite audibly through my speakers with the Prefix. I finally had to fall all the way back to using a high-output dynavector cartridge with the MM boards inside my 52. Low output moving-coils just couldn't work with the RF problems.

Will the Stageline (with maybe a hicap) be better than the boards inside a 52? Is the Stageline adjustable for MC or MM, or does one have to order a specific version (K,E,S, or MM)? Is there any ability to adjust the loading to match the cartridge in use?

I am beginning to suspect an RF problem. System is LP12/Prefix/Hicap/52 and I can clearly hear radio signals through the phono input, which I did not notice before. Is it possible that the rearranging of components which was necessary
to change tables could have brought this on ?

Has anyone any suggestions in general for the locating of components to minimise RFI ?

Move the ground wire from the LP12 to the 52 around. In my system this is as important as tuning in, or tuning out RF as is the rotor on the G-17 antenna. The 'correct' configuration of the ground wire may be either straight or have a dog-leg bend in it. Trial is the only way to know for sure.
