Is A Woman

Do you know it just occurred to me as I sit here with Lambchop playing that there might be just one person who reads this that doesn't have this album.

In which case I have just made your day.

I do apologise. I should have added a thumbs up for some of the output of Bonnie Prince Billy. Both Master and Servant and especially I See A Darkness are both excellent and "alt" in the sort of sinister, spooky was that the likes of the Handsome Family, Willard Grant etc. just don't come near.

I seem to be in Top Cat's camp on this one. I bought 'Is a Woman' the week it came out because I loved half (only half, mind) of 'Nixon.'

'Is a Woman' is an album I've tried very hard to enjoy but I have to admit that while there's no denying the quality of the production it just seems to send me to ... zzzzzz.

I played both "Nixon" and "What another man spills" this weekend. Interesting. I remember often thinking about which I prefered without ever reaching a conclusion.

This weekend it all dropped into place. Nixon is "Half good" as RogerH suggests, I'd simply forgotten the necessary use of the NEXT button on the remote. "What another man spills" I can enjoy the whole way through.

Nixon will now be consigned to the depths of the CD storage system. As for "Is a woman" I think two Lambchops is more than enough for me. Peas, carrots and gravy please - hold the mint sauce.
