CDX2 feet - rubber or not!!!?

Posted by: andy c on 02 May 2004

Hi,
I have a CDX2 serial number 197***, purchased in September 2003. On speaking to a friend my attention was drawn to the feet fitted to the CDP. The feet are hard, with no rubber 'o' ring interfacing between each of the feet and the glass shelf of my Fraim. These feet are different from those fitted to my 282 and XPS2, in that they have feet fitted as I have just described - a rubber 'o' ring interfacing between each of the feet and the relevant surface they sit on.

What feet do you fellow CDX2's owners have fitted to your players? do you have the rubber '0' rings aka as I have described fitted to your player?

I ask this for two reasons, rubber feet will stop the player sliding round on the Fraim shelf, and also there may obviously be a sound improvement if the specification has been altered.

Thanks for any replies.

Andy naim have always used hard feet for the CDPs and rubber for the others.

Presumably they feel this is best but of course you are free to experiment.

Andy,

Naim sell little stick on things that I think are called 'bumpions' that stick to your shelf and sit within your hard feet to prevent the CDP sliding off the shelf.

Hi Andy

'Bumpons' are indeed what you need. Don't mess with the feet of your player. They are designed to rigidly couple the player to its mounting (and you have the real thing!) and internal 'suspension' methods deal with microphonics in a specific manner to achieve the full performance potential.

A lot of work went into making the new casework/feet etc: produce a better sound.

It's a bit crude but that marvellous HiFi accessory Blue tack is another alternative.

Either in the hollow of the hard feet or if alternatively a little lump behind each foot since the usual movement on the shelf is backwards.
