Isn't she pretty!! You must be so proud. Looking back at pictures of mine when they were born, they were horrific looking - but we didn't think so at the time. But Anna really is pretty.
Congratulations to you all and I will toast Anna with a bottle of beer and a whisky tonight.
What a great start to the weekend.

What a lovely name.

Thats a smile caused by the filling of the nappy.

Regards - and enjoy!

Thanks to all. Anna was born on Sunday, June 27 at 00:08 after 24 hours of labour. It never occurred to me until it happened just how appropriate the word labour is. I think it's fair to say that men would not be able to pull this off... well, assuming we had the organs to make pregnancy possible.

Obviously, we think she's a cutie but it's nice to know that that isn't just parental bias talking. The pix I uploaded are a day old, and her colour has come in nicely, but Anna was rather red and cheesy when she made her entrance. Rasher, maybe that's what you're referring to.

As for the beer and whiskey for toasting tonight... no brand preference other than ales over lagers, and single malts and proper bourbons over blends and paint stripper. If you're gonna do this, do it right. ;-)

Mother, baby and father all doing well.

Best,
Joe

Fear not Joe. I have a nice 1969 Glen Mhor coming out of the cupboard tonight for this one.
No, my kids looked horific for at least 3 months. When my son was born they wrapped the placenta in a blanket and left him in the bucket on the floor! They are of course stunning now Wink

I hope you won't be feeding her any paint stripper, Joe, unless there's some weird, secret American custom to do with kids in their formative years that we have yet to hear about.

Seriously though, congratulations on the new addition, speaking of which, when do you expect her to purchase her first Naim system? Cool

Congratulations Mr. Petrik. Please send my regards to your wife also. You could tell her that the next delivery won't be as difficult but as you know, medicine isn't an exact science Wink

Congrats Mrs & Mr Petrik. Had a 19 hr labour with our first and then they did a ceasar.
Enjoy

That's great news! Congrats!!! I'm glad that Jill and I were able to meet up with you last month, so we could impart all of that wisdom. Wink Now you can actually use some of it.

BTW, I just realized that your daughter's an American! Eek

Thanks to all again. Suzanne and I are floored by all the well wishes. It's times like this that make us realize that our species has some potential after all.

Rasher -- It's the end result that counts. By all accounts I was a hideous baby. But look at me now:

Actually, this is closer to the truth:

JonR -- No paint thinner. Around these here parts it's biscuits and sausage gravy that babies are fed. Dave Simpson can explain.

Arun -- Thanks, but one's plenty for now. You do know that kids will eat your food... for 30 years or more. ;-)

Mike -- Nice meeting you last month, too. Hope the conference and trip went well. Oh, and don't worry about the American influence. We've got her on a strict maple syrup and doughnut diet, eh.

Well done Joe and Suzanne.

If she sleeps then make the most of the next 6 months, once they can roll over the end is nigh.

Congrat's to Joe and family !

A word of warning Joe; Sleep deprivation is the worst imaginable torture. Don't worry though, it only lasts for a few years.

"I think it's fair to say that men would not be able to pull this off... well, assuming we had the organs to make pregnancy possible."

Women are so brave... two disprin and back to work in the morning.

You're joking man, this is time for treating yourself.
Don't take any notice about the sleep deprivation comment - it's actually quite enchanting. I walked my little girl around the streets in a carrier from 2.00am - 5.00am every single night for 5 months, then got up at 7.0am to go to work. When my little boy was born he just slept. I was slightly disappointed. It was a very, very special time that we had all by ourselves & I wouldn't have changed it for the world. People don't seem to understand why I could stand doing it, but she was all mine during those quiet hours & I just loved it. Smile Ahhh. that's love for you.
