Comedy DVD alert!

Posted by: Not For Me on 18 October 2004

Series 1 & 2 of Big Train are out on DVD next week.

I thought it was the best sketch shows / programmes I have seen for a good few years. Surreal, deadpan, building on a running joke series. From the writers of Father Ted, with a lot of usual ones Pegg etc.

A few classic moments:

- The Staring contests
- The jockeys interfering with the firemen
- Ming the Merciless doing the hoovering
- Wanking in the office
- The food company obvious jokes

Can't wait!

DVDs of Ripping Yarns are out now too. Taken long enough. Patchy but occasionally brilliant and the extra Black and Blue (Secrets) is most revealing in terms of where the writers of Reggie Perrin got their specific characters from.

I've just grabbed the Spaced box set, along with the Look Around You DVD(with Peter Serafinowicz and Edgar Wright of Spaced). Even if you have series 1 & 2 of Spaced already, you'll want the box set for the 'Skip To The End' DVD. Yeah, you want to know what happend to Tim & Daisy.

Human Remains is going to be arriving soon along with Peep Show DVD when the latter is released on the 15 of next month. I need to add Big Train to the wish list. Eldon, Pegg and Heap are brilliant.

Hopefully Nighty Night will get released soon.
