There seems to be an awful lot of mythologising of Reagan going on.

Oh dear. Here we go again.

Do you live in southern England, by any chance?

Bhoyo,

No I live in Leicester in the Midlands where we have the worst educated workforce in Europe, un-employment running at over twice the national average. We are a designated European area of social need with a local ecconomy which is on its knee's and struggling to attract any kind of investment.

If it wasn't for the fact that I have a succesful business here I would have left the area a long time ago.

Regards

I think Reagan's finest hour will be remembered as his appearance in the Frankie Goes To Hollywood video Two Tribes.

Crikey. Why is it such a disaster area?

Must have tried to rely on Reagan's trickle down economics, trouble is all the trickle down trickled down to somewhere within the M25 Wink

I was browsing the Reagan memorial at whitehouse.org, and found the perfect bike sticker for Matthew.

Mekon:

That site is fab. Thanks for the link. But living in Jeb country, I wouldn't dare put most of those stickers anywhere near my car.

What's really amazing is how good RR looks compared to W.

I think that an objective observer of our times would remark that the public responds very positively to strong statements by good 'communicators'.

Further, the public seems willing and able to revere these 'leaders' without holding them to account for the fact that their deeds do not match their words. This is not 'leadership', it's simply the use of the Big Lie.

Both Reagan and W strike me not as leaders but as petulant 4 year olds who were not given appropriate limits by their parents....
