old versus new

A lot better the new combo ???
Or not ??
I've demo'd both, and I found the garden CD5 to be less exciting than the CD3.5, but with a HiCap it turns into a far more interesting beastie. Actually, I also demo'd a CDX at the same time, and the HiCapped CD5 sounded better to my ears...
The CD5+PSU remains on my shortlist for new CD player to buy in early 2001... along with the Arcam FMJ, which is a surprisingly good CD player (as good as I've heard under 3 grand), but the two excel in different areas, IMHO...

Certainly worth checking out if you have a chance.

3 weeks ago I bought a new 72 and a used 140,
now the left channel of the 140 doesn't work, will be fixed tomorrow.
If the numbers are telling us something - then the 150 is a better amp than the 140 at least to Naim mind.

the numbers are not related to how good it is. They are the stereo 4ohm output in watts.

I think that usually the better amp is more powerful not only with Naim but with many other manufacturers.
I think generally, with the same manufacturer ofcourse, better quality comes with more power.
