Bluetooth Earphones for Mobile??

Posted by: Hawk on 07 November 2004

Yet another one of my wired personal mobile phone headphones has given up the ghost so im wondering if the latest bluetooth devices are any good and if anyone has any recomendations?

I tried one of the earlier ones (a sony erricson one that had a small wire to an earphone) and it was frankly rubbish hence i went back to the old fashioned wired one.. The reception was a bit hit and miss and i kept suffering from an annoying echo..

I'd like to give it another shot though if the current ones are better? I begrudge having to keep buying the wired ones that never seem to last more than a couple of months..

any advice much appreciated as i dont trust carphonewarehouse to tell me the whole truth and nothing but!! I'll be using it with a sony k700i

cheers

Carphone Warehouse are more independant than most.

I have nothing to add about these earpieces. With some you look like a Borg though.

I'm using a Jabra 200 with my Nokia mobile. Works very well - the radio connection to the mobile works flawlessly, the speech quality is good both in- and outgoing, but could do with longer battery life before it has to be recharged again.

hi neil,
ive had my bluetooth earpiece for a month now and am very satisfied with it, it works very well with my motorola 525. you must remember that they have a very short range though!!
but if you want to use one for driving etc, where the phone is in your pocket or belt then they are good. go to L8SHOP.NET for some good prices. hope this helps
regards, scotty

I had the same problem with my Jabra BT200 so I swapped it for a Motorola HS801.

I use a Nokia 6600 handset.

The Jabra's reception and transmission was better and it was also more user-friendly, but the battery wouldn't even last me a whole shift - no good to me!

The Motorola lasts up to 3 days between charges but people say that reception is sometimes poor at their end so I often have to repeat what I'm trying to tell them a couple of times or more.

Also there is this business of a long or short press on the main button sending different instruction to my handset. I find it irritating because, for example, instead of ending a call when I press the button I find the first call is put on hold before it attempts to redial the same number!

I'm tempted to stick the bloody thing on Ebay (you have been warned Big Grin) and spend £100 on the Nokia Bluetooth set.

Regards,

Steve.

Cheers guys...

I took a trip to CPW yesterday afternoon and managed to persuade them to let me try a couple.. Seems they have come along way since the last one i had..

I looked at the Jabra BT200, a Sony Ericsson HBH600 and HBH660, one from nokia and one from Motorola... The HBH660 and the nokia one felt the lightest, and the motorola had the best battery life (7 hours) In the end i went for the Sony HBH-660, It was light, sounded very clear, and had a 5 hour battery life... Ultimately i think the motorola was slightly better but what swung it in the end was the fact that i had a sony phone... The Motorola wasnt better enough to justify having two sets of incar chargers etc..

So far ive been very impressed with it.. the voice activation works fine (although i must change the nickname i have recorded for my boss!) which is good because the button on the side is a mare to use for exactly the same reason Steve mentions!

Cheers
