I'm referring to my road and track racing from 20 years ago - but in those days there was no question about whether Campagnolo was the best. If one had the money one bought Campag because it lasted and worked.
I seem to remember that Campag didn't bother with change for the sake of it either. Their range stayed the same unless a new product could offer a distinct improvement. (Like Naim)

You should buy the bike.
The setup of the geometry will be far more important than the manufacturer of the groupset.
If it fits like a glove - it will be ideal.
I use Shimano Ultegra throughout but looked at a bike using Campagnolo. In the end, it was the bike's "fit" that was the deciding factor for me.
You will love the new method of gear changing using the brake lever - I was a little sceptical at first but now that it is second nature, it is indeed MUCH better.

Thanks for all comments. What idid not Know (never had one of those new gear shifter systems)is the circumstance that normally the hand is placed (nearby) allways a b o v e the gear shifter.they told me today in the shop.
so the only (theoretical)benefit of shimano is
that it is possible to shift gears u p while braking (think this is a non real situation)
so i will go on monday for the bike with campagnolo centaur.
