Hi,
I had an Ariston RD 80 years ago and it sucks, sorry but it isn't in the same league as a LP12 or a Roksan, which is why I now have a Roksan. For the price of a DV 17D2 you could get a second-hand LP12 or Roksan you must check them out as the difference is amazing you won't go back to the RD80.

I use a Roksan Xerxes through my 82/Hicap/180 and Ruark speakers.
The sound is crystal clear, with excellent bass extention and depth of sound. Second hand turntables are being advertised all the time, I suggest you search out an example go and have a listen and make your own mind up.

I was fortunate enough to pick up an ex-dem Rega P25 for £400, although I then had to order a platter and mat via my dealer. Sounds a little better in some ways than my CD5/Flatcap2, more natural, more flowing.

I know AUDIO SYNTHESE very well since I bought my naIM gear there. They also fixed up my ARISTON.
My question was more concerning the replacment of the tone-arm / cartridge and the phone boards in the 92 (STAGELINE ?).....
